River Trip - Year 6

11th November 2019

Year 6 enjoyed their trips to Holt Hall to study the River Glaven.
There were 5 stops on our trip; 2 in the upper course, 1 in the middle and 2 in the lower course of the river. Our first was at Bodham. This is where the source was. The second was at Felbrigg, the third at Letheringsett and the fourth at Cley. This was the lower course and we weren't allowed in the river because it was too high (the river level).
For our final stop we went to a tower overlooking the mouth of the river. At many stages of the river,  we measured the width and the depth. We also measured the flow.

We found that the third stop at Letheringsett was the best as everyone wearing wellies could go into the river. One group found a shrimp and one managed to catch a fish.
Another stop was in a church garden where we found some strange markings on the wall. Then we found out the flood plains that we saw used to be the mouth of the River Glaven and the markings were from ropes from the boats.
