Happy New Year!

Welcome back everyone; we hope you had a restful break and are ready for all the exciting things we have planned for the Spring term.

We had a brilliant first term in Year 4 and packed lots in! Our highlights included a visit from a dental nurse, our Christmas concert performed at St. Cuthbert’s church and our very own Ancient Greek Day, all of which we all enjoyed immensely. In DT we made puppets - this was a great day and some really beautiful creations were completed.

For this first half-term we will have a Geography focus on Europe. During the second half-term our history topic will be Romans, and we will be looking at states of matter and electricity in science and bread in DT.

Homework

Having spent the last term setting online maths homework, we will now be changing to literacy and theme-based homework for this term. Thank you for your support with homework, it has been great to see all the hard work that’s been going on.

Homework will still be set on Thursdays, and needs to be handed in by Tuesday. It is great to see so many children handing in their homework on time – please do encourage your child/ren to complete their homework and also record all their reading in their journal. If you do have any queries regarding this, please let us know.

The children’s log ins for all the websites we use in school are all in their journals. You can find a list of these websites in the 'useful websites' section of our school website.

TT Rock Stars

This programme is especially important for our Year 4 children to build the fluency of knowing their times tables! It has been really great to see how some of our Year 4 children have made so much progress by playing a game! We set a Battle between the classes each week Thursday to Thursday, and the top 3 players from each class get a certificate.

Spellings

Although we focus on spellings during our SPaG sessions and practise throughout the week, please can children also be practising their spellings each week at home too.

Ukulele lessons

We're very excited to share with you that all of Year 4 will be having ukuleleUkulele cartoon illustration 3226591 Vector Art at Vecteezy lessons this term! The lessons are being provided by Norfolk music services - something to certainly look forward to!

Gardening

Year 4 also enjoy gardening on a Friday. They go in small groups each week and come back beaming eager to share what they have been doing around the school grounds. They know all the chickens by name!

Timetable Changes

We will do RSE (relationships and sex education) in the second half-term, if anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to come and talk to us. More information on this will be given out about this before it is taught to the children.

Lastly, keep a look-out for posts, messages and photos on the Marvellous Me app, much more to come in the Spring term!
