Dear Parents & Carers

We look forward to seeing everyone in school for parents' evening next week. It is a good opportunity to catch up to see how well your child has started the school year. During Monday's meeting, we have a couple of colleagues with us from Norfolk County Council offering advice and support. Please see the information below.

The newsletter dates include events up until the Christmas holidays. These include our carol concerts at St Cuthbert's. All family members welcome.

Next week is Children In Need, and we will be having some games on the playground at lunch time, as well as a non-uniform day. For non-uniform, we will be asking for a voluntary contribution of £1.

I need to say a massive thank you to all parents and carers for the support before half-term. The bake off was a fantastic success, and we have a lot of talent in Sprowston! Well done to all the winners and to everyone who took part. The total raised was absolutely fantastic.

Also, a thank you to all the family members for attending the Year 3 event on Wednesday. The children loved having you in school with them and we hope you enjoyed the morning.

Finally, I need to let you know of a couple of staffing changes. Firstly, we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Collier on November 21st. Mrs Collier has been a highly valued member of the team for the last 6 years, working mainly with children in the upper key stage. We wish her all the very best in her next role.

We also need to say a warm welcome to Mrs Phillips who has joined the staffing team.

Have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards

Matt Walton, Headteacher

A massive thanks to everyone who brought in bakes for the Bake Off on Friday 24th October. We were blown away by the quality and imagination of the bakes and the support for Salhouse’s competition. Seeing all the bakes displayed in the hall was an amazing sight. Our VIP judges had a very difficult job whittling the mouth-watering entries down to one winner in each category. After a lot of discussion, the winners were:

Sweet bake winner: Dylan (Year 3) – a terrifying zombie cake.

Savoury bake winner: Toby (Year 6) – a delicious batch of his famous cheese straws.

Thank you as well to everyone who brought in money to buy bakes on the day. It was fantastic to see everyone tucking in to the delicious bakes at break, lunch and after school.

A special mention to our VIP judges. It was great to see Mrs Magee, Mrs Ellis and Mr Bird back in school for the morning.

With your support and spectacular (although that should probably be spooktacular!) bakes, Salhouse raised an incredible £400! Thank you again for such wonderful support and generosity.

Here are just some of the astonishingly mouth-watering bakes...

Year 3 Bonfire Café

Our Year 3 Bonfire Café was a wonderful success! Friends and family joined us for a warm and welcoming morning filled with art, crafts, poetry, and some impressive times tables fun. Parents got stuck in too, creating their own fantastic crafts alongside the children. Many stayed to share lunch with us afterwards. Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event — we’re already looking forward to hosting the Year 4 Café later in the year!

Football team Report

Well done to all the boys who took part in the Jack Ramm football tournament this week. The boys played 4, winning 2 and losing 2. All the boys showed a fantastic attitude throughout the whole tournament and represented the school brilliantly. We now look forward to our league and cup fixtures in the Spring term!

Norwich Foodbank’s Christmas Collection

For the last few years , our Pupil Ambassadors have organised a collection to support the Norwich Foodbank Christmas appeal. We will be collecting again this year to support the fantastic work done by the people of the Norwich Foodbank.

If you are able, please bring in any items to either the school office or to your classroom by Tuesday 2nd December. The School Pupil Ambassadors will then deliver our donations to the Norwich Foodbank on Wednesday 3rd December.

If you have any questions, or would like more information, please speak to one of our amazing Pupil Ambassadors or Mr Arthur.
