Summer 2025

Welcome Back to Summer Term! |

Welcome back!

We hope everyone had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed lots of chocolate and rest in the sunshine! We would like to say again a huge well done to all the children for all their hard work and effort last term, they were all superstars!  We are sure their hard work and fantastic attitudes will continue throughout the Summer term.

Curriculum Overview

Summer

Last term in literacy, we enjoyed reading ‘Boy and the back of the class’ and completed lots of activities linked to this text. This term we are starting off with a poetry unit, focusing on lots of different styles of poetry. The aim is for the children to make and bring home their very own poetry anthology.

In maths, we will continue with our curriculum. This will include new topics that the children have not covered yet, as well as revisiting and revising topics we have already covered. Also, as you are aware, the Y4 children have their times table check in June, so any extra practice will benefit the children greatly, especially lots of 'sound checking'.

In history, we will continue work on The Romans (we are also looking forward to our trip to Sculthorpe Moor linked to this topic). So far, we have been very impressed by the enthusiasm and knowledge shown by the year group!

In science, we will be moving onto habitats, looking at and exploring our wonderful school and the local area.

In PE will be doing some athletics in preparation for our annual sports day later on in the Summer term. We also have some rounders and OAA (outdoor and adventurous activities) to look forward to!

There will be lots of other exciting things happening across the curriculum, including a church visit, a Buddhist visitor and much more. Watch this space for details!

Homework

Homework

As before, homework will be given out on a Wednesday, with a Monday return. Any problems, chat to your child's teacher.

As well as homework given, don't forget to keep up with home reading. Remember, home reading = house points and a better understanding of comprehension and words.

Clubs

Finally, it’s a new term which means new clubs! There are a wide range of after-school activities to choose from, if your child hasn’t signed up yet but thinks they would like to, please speak to the office about spaces available.

We look forward to an enjoyable and hopefully sunny Summer term!

Any questions, just ask!
