Summer 2025

We hope you had a lovely Easter break. We have had such a fantastic first two terms in Salhouse class, we are confident that the children will continue to do themselves proud. We have a lot of exciting, interesting and varied activities to look forward to in our Summer term.

Curriculum Overview

Summer

Literacy: This half-term we will be focusing an Francesca Sanna's 'The Journey' which will invite our children to use their imaginations and explore how life can be for a refugee. This will be followed with a unit of work based on Shakespeare's Macbeth.

Maths – We will start the new term by finishing off our work on statistics before moving to shape. For the rest of the year we will be looking at decimals, negative numbers, converting units and volume. You can find more information on how to support your child in the 'Help with maths' section on our school website.

Maths | Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School

Science – During this term we will be exploring the 'Journey of life'. We will be finding out about plant reproduction, the life cycle of amphibians and insects and how to classify animals by looking at their distinguishing features.

Science - Mansfield Green E-ACT Primary Academy

History/Geography – We have finished our learning about the Saxons and Vikings and will now move onto the Normans, starting with the Battle of Haistings. After this, we will finish the year with a geography unit of work based in Mexico.

Art/DT - This term we will be finishing off our Bayeux tapestry unit and then moving onto looking at the artist Georgia O‘Keefe. This will be followed by an exciting food technology unit which will have us visiting the kitchen lots over the course of the final part of the year.

Georgia O'Keeffe's Vision | The New Yorker

PE – PE will continue with both classes having PE on Tuesday afternoons.  This term the PE focus will be on athletics as we gear up for the NPSA City Sports in June. We will also be taking part in cricket and outdoor adventurous activities (OAA). Please ensure your child has the correct and appropriate clothing for these sessions
