Summer 2026

We hope you have had an enjoyable and restful Easter break. It doesn’t seem possible that we are already in the Summer Term; the children’s final term at Sprowston Junior School. With a range of activities planned such as the Year 6 End of Year Production, Hilltop residential and a Royal Norfolk Show Visit, this will be an extremely busy, but also most enjoyable, last few weeks.

SATs

The children have been working incredibly hard all year, and we know that they will continue to show this positive attitude to learning over the next few days leading up to SATs. Remember: every lesson, every intervention group and every piece of homework counts.

SATs week will take place on the week of 11Th May 2026.

Monday 11th May – English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (2 papers).

Tuesday 12th May - English Reading.

Wednesday 13th May – Maths Paper 1 - Arithmetic. Maths Paper 2 - Reasoning.

Thursday 14th May – Maths Paper 3 – Reasoning.

We aim to make SATs week as relaxed as possible. Plenty of sleep, a good breakfast and arriving at school on time will really benefit the children. We will also be welcoming children into school from 8:30am on SATS days to help with any worries or just to give them a little time to relax before the test. There may also be some delicious snacks available! If you have any worries or queries regarding SATs, please do not hesitate to contact one of the Year 6 team.

Transition to High School

With only a term left of junior school, we will be continuing to prepare the children for their move to high school. The children will get the chance to visit their new high schools, and we will meet with staff from the different high schools to ensure a smooth transition. For some children (and parents!) this can be a worrying time, so please contact us, if you have any concerns.

Here are some links to websites with some advice on how to help your child with the transition to high school:
