Dear Parents & Carers

We have reached the end of term. We have reports below from the STEM National Finals and the talent show. Well done to all the children (and staff!) involved in both events. Thanks also to Mr Arthur for organising them.

We look towards an enjoyable summer term ahead and the opportunities it will bring. It is the nicest term for playing outdoors and being able to learn outside too.

When we return, the building works will be nearly finished, and we look forward to having our new SHIP provision ready for children to use. It will also be nice for the children to be able to use more of the playground over the summer months.

On behalf of all the staff, we hope everyone has a lovely Easter break and look forward to seeing everybody on Tuesday 14th April.

We were dazzled by the amazing talent Sprowston Junior has to offer this week in this year's edition of Sprowston's Got Talent.

The House Captains hosted the event and did a stellar job. Grace made sure the acts were ready to perform, Charlie and Theo were our able stagehands - making sure the acts had all the props they needed, Florence was the voice behind the curtain; and Wanye, Lewis and Sam were Sprowston's answer to Simon Cowell!

Betsie and Maya got things off to a great start with their rendition of 'One short day'. The judges agreed they had set the bar pretty high. Next up was Ivy who performed some incredible acrobatics feats. This was followed by Zainaab, Talula and Amelia who danced their hearts out to Lush Life. It was William's turn to bust some moves with his dance interpretation of the Big Hero 6 song Immortals which got the audience clapping along. It was the first of the judges' choice next as Katie and Thea sang their own song all about loving nature.

Valerie got proceedings back on track after the interval singing a Smile and a Ribbon. Following Valerie was the tremendous trio of Ellis, Taylor and Alper dancing to Baddadan. With the atmosphere jumping it was time for the second judges' choice act of Macie, Grace, Alexa and Madison to perform their acrobatics to 'Take me to the beach'. The final two acts of the show were from Salhouse. Jessica showed us her contortionist skills while Elliott cracked us up with his jokes.

And that was that for another year. Or so we thought, but from the speakers came the sound of Baddadan again. Were Eilis, Taylor and Alper going to perform again? The children were puzzled, but as the curtains opened and strange figures appeared from the shadows, it all became clear. A hand-picked group of staff had something they wanted to share. As the song built, so did the atmosphere in the room. What an incredible end to a jaw-dropping show!

The votes were counted and officially verified by our House Captains - the winners were Ellis, Taylor and Alper. William came in second place and Macie, Grace, Alexa and Madison were third.

Well done to all the acts who performed. It was, without doubt, our most hotly contested Sprowston's Got Talent show yet.

STEM Racing National Finals

This week two teams from Year 6 travelled to the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham for the STEM Racing National Finals. During the day, they were one of 70 teams competing to find out who would be crowned this year's national STEM Racing champions.

During the day, the teams spent time showing off their research and design work on their pit display, racing their cars on the brand new four-lane racetrack, discussing their design portfolio and presenting to judges. If you didn't get a chance to watch the races, you can catch up with the recording here.

They also got the chance to visit the Magna Science Adventure Centre. During this, they explored the four zones and watched the impressive 'Big Melt' display.

Thanks to everyone who helped with this year's STEM Racing. If you made a donation, sent in money for the stalls, helped children with their preparations or dropped them off at 5am. You played a part in the success of the teams this year and your support is appreciated.
