Friday 5th September, 2025

Dear Parents & Carers

It's been an enjoyable few days back at school with a lovely positive atmosphere around the school. I've very much enjoyed getting to know many of our new pupils and starting to remember all the names!

Ollie and Max from Munnings Construction joined us in assembly yesterday to tell the children all about the building works for the new SHIP building. They are running a poster competition; the poster can be a picture of our construction site, or any construction picture they'd like to draw. It could also be a poster telling everyone about the dangers and how to keep safe. The winners will receive book tokens and will be chosen by Munnings. All posters will be displayed outside.

Please see information below about a performance after school on Monday by the Brook Street Band. Please pop along and have a listen if you have a few minutes. This has been organised through Into Opera and is a continuation of our arts' project. Last year, this included theatre trips and performances. This year, we have a musician in school every Thursday teaching music, and we will also be putting on different events and hopefully visiting theatres too!

The school newsletter will be written fortnightly; we look forward to sharing all the news with you over the academic year.

I'm sure you'll have some tired children this evening!

Have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards

Matt Walton, Headteacher

Baroque Band

As part of our continuing arts' project, we are delighted to welcome the Brook Street Band into school on Monday. They will be working with all the classes across the day, playing music from the Baroque period.  The children will be doing some singing and dancing from the 18th century.

At 3:15pm, the band will be putting on a free concert for all families. If you'd like to stay and listen to the band, please make your way to the school hall after you pick your child up. The concert will last 20/30 minutes but you are welcome to pop in for as little or as long as you'd like to.

Clubs letter

You should have received our clubs letter by email today. If you didn't, please email: office@sprowstonjunior.norfolk.sch.uk. Hopefully, you'll see something of interest on there for your child. Please fill in the form as soon as possible.

School Grounds

Car Park

Only staff cars are allowed in the car park at the moment, unless specific permission has been given. The car park area is extremely busy with cars and families walking through, and we need to keep this area as safe as possible.

Playground

Please can you help us to ensure all bikes and scooters are walked in the playground. We also ask for no ball games before and after school. Dogs should be kept outside the playground or at the boundary. Thank you for your help.

Sprowston Clubhouse will be opening its doors on Wednesday 24th September. We are pleased to tell you that we have employed Rose Clark as our new Wrap Around Care manager. Rose will be running both the before school and after school clubs. We've also employed Louise Beckett who will be working alongside Rose at the after-school club. Both Rose and Louise are both experienced at working with children in different educational settings. We have sent home a booking form by email today and will be in touch with all parents & carers who return the forms.

It is hoped that the club will be able to accept bookings at short notice (dependent on space) and further details will be sent out shortly.

Attendance

We are starting our first lesson earlier this year so it is important the children are punctual and in school on time. We realise this may not possible on occasion but please ask that you make sure your child is at school in plenty of time for the start of the school day. Children are welcomed into school from 8:40am.

Friends' Association

The children have enjoyed playing with a lot of the new resources in the playground this week. Thank you to the Friends' Association for purchasing £1500 worth of new equipment. The children have given the equipment a big thumbs up!
