Welcome Back to Summer Term! |

Welcome back!

We hope everyone had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed lots of chocolate! We would like to say again a huge well done to all the children for all their hard work and effort last term, they were all superstars!  We’re sure their hard work and fantastic attitudes will continue throughout the Summer term.

Curriculum Overview

Summer

Last term in literacy, we enjoyed reading ‘Boy at the Back of the Class’ and we are really looking forward to our trip to the theatre. This term we are starting off with the non-fiction text ‘Our Planet’ which is part of the David Attenborough series.

In maths, we will continue with our curriculum, this includes new topics not yet covered but also revisiting and revising topics we have already covered. We are starting off with decimals. Also, as I am sure you are all aware, the children have their times table check in June, so any extra practise will benefit the children greatly! More information about the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) will follow shortly.

In history, we will continue work on The Romans - we are also looking forward to our trip to Norwich Castle. So far, we have been very impressed by the enthusiasm and knowledge shown by the year group!

In science, we will be moving onto habitats, looking and exploring around our wonderful school and the local area! This will also involve a trip to the Broads in the second part of the summer term.

Homework

Homework

Some children will be pleased to hear (some perhaps not!) that homework will continue this term.

This term will see the Roman homework expected on a Tuesday,  from the booklet all your children have received. Please do contact if you need another one.

We would still like the children to continue with their times tables practise and daily reading.

We saw a real improvement in the amount of reading completed and many more children recording their reading in their journal - keep it up, Year 4!

Clubs

It’s a new term which means new clubs! There are a wide range of after-school activities to choose from, if your child hasn’t signed up yet but thinks they would like to, please speak to the office about spaces available.

The summer term is going to be very busy. This year seems to have gone faster than most. Mr Cordeaux is looking forward to teaching Ranworth and Mrs Pearce will also be around and hopefully joining the Year 4s on some of their trips.

Mrs Pearce : I would like to thank the children for their super hard work, especially with reading and times tables and wish them luck with the AR cup, they definitely deserve it. I would also like to thank parents for all their support for cafés, reading mornings and parent lunches, international days and parent readers and also supplying resources for DT, Art and Science projects and fruit and marshmallows for celebrations. It is great to see so many involved parents at every event. Your amazing support is gratefully received both by myself and of course the children.

I am extremely sad not to be teaching Ranworth until the end, but please rest assured I am around, if anyone needs me, although I am certain that Ranworth will continue to flourish with Mr Cordeaux.

We look forward to an enjoyable and hopefully sunny Summer term!

Mr Cordeaux,  Mrs Clark, Mrs Magee  and Mrs Pearce
