HEADTEACHER'S MESSAGE

It has been very difficult to plan for these last few weeks of the school year. In the back of our minds, we were waiting to see what happened on June 21 in order to see what was possible. Due to the current restrictions and the latest guidance we will not be able to host any events inside which is disappointing, and we are restricted in what we are able to do outdoors too. Fingers crossed we can put this behind us in September and get back to many of the lovely events that enrich the school calendar.

We very much enjoyed having parents with us for the Year 3 Sports Day on Wednesday. Year 4 is coming up next week and information will be out to parents in Year 5 & 6 soon. Please do support us by following the risk assessment guidance to enable the events to take place.

Next week, I'll be sharing a letter about uniform from September. Please do look out for it as it will include some small changes to our normal procedures. We are also looking at other aspects of school to see if we will keep some of the covid-19 changes we've made going forward. Some have had positive benefits which we'd like to keep if we can.

Kind regards

Matt Walton, Headteacher

Bikeability

This was the first time we've taken part in Bikeabilty (previously we took part in Cycling Proficiency). The feedback from the children has been really positive. They thought the sessions were fun and spoke highly of the adults who ran the scheme.

Over the 4 days, the children took part in 8 hours of cycle training, and I'm sure they'll all agree they feel safer and more skilled to bike safely on the road. We look forward to welcoming the team back in October for more training.

Thank you for the positive feedback we have received.

Year 3 Sports Day

What a fabulous morning Year 3 had for their Sports Day. Super weather and plenty of effort and enjoyment was shown by all the children. They worked really hard for themselves and their teams with some excellent team work on show, both in the activities and in the sprint races too. Can we say thank you to all the parents for supporting the event and for helping us to make it a safe event too for all.

Classes for next year

We will shortly be letting you all know all about the classes for next year. The information will be shared in the Newsletter on July 9th and emailed to all parents/carers.

Bikes!

Our bike shed is always quite full of bikes which is wonderful and we certainly encourage biking to school where this is possible. Can we please encourage all children to wear helmets whilst they are biking and we will also be reminding children to walk their bikes in the car park in front of the school to help them stay safe.

Arts Project

We're delighted to let you all know that we were successful in a bid to work with Into Opera and 3 other schools on an Arts Project over the next 2 years. This is an exciting opportunity which is backed by a substantial charity donation and will have a signifiant impact on music, art and drama opportunities that we are able to provide. We hope to share more about this with you in the autumn.

Year 6 Play

We have been delaying announcing information about the year 6 play due to hoping we can use the stage indoors. Unfortunately, this will now not be possible. We are hoping to put 'Bugsy Malone' on outside for parents and will be emailing shortly with proposed dates. In keeping with Covid guidelines, we will hopefully be putting on at least two showings to enable all parents and carers to come along. Unfortunately, numbers will have to be restricted.
