Sports Premium

The government is providing additional funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. Sprowston Junior School will receive £18270 for the 2023/24 school year

Our plan for spending this grant includes:

  • training and professional development of teachers, including subject leader training
  • using outside agencies to provide more extra-curricular clubs, e.g. gymnastics, dance, tennis
  • subsidising after-school and holiday clubs
  • entering more competitions, e.g.  Norfolk School Games; Adapted Games; Cluster events
  • Providing better resources to keep children active at lunchtimes
  • Introducing new sports and activities to the children
  • Emphasising the importance of leading healthy lifestyles and healthy minds
  • Providing outdoor activities on the school site that promote healthy living

Across the school year we provide clubs for:

  • athletics, including indoor athletics
  • cricket
  • cross country running
  • dance
  • football
  • gymnastics
  • tennis
  • tag-rugby
  • multi-sports

In 2022/23, we competed against other schools in athletics, cricket, cross country, football, tennis and korfball.  Please read the PE Report for more detail.
